Congenital Heart DefectsCongenital heart defects affect one in 20 live births, one in 100 of which require an intervention.
Heart defects develop in the early weeks of pregnancy when the heart is forming and can affect any of the different parts or functions of the heart. Signs and Symptoms of Congestive Heart Failure (CHF): These defects can prevent the proper flow of blood to the lungs or other parts of the body, this leads to CHF. Many of the signs and symptoms are congruent with CHF and vary among different children

Causes: In most cases, the reason the babies heart develops abnormally is unknown. Both genetic and environmental factors play a role.
